Confucius said to choose a job you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life. We couldn’t agree more. Integrating video storytelling with marketing has been a dream come true for us, and we feel blessed to do it every day. Here’s just a bit about how we got here and what we’ve done to this point.

2005

PASSION FOR VIDEO
PRODUCTION IS BORN

It took a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, to get where we are. Literally. After he blew out his knee playing football, our founder Jordan Lung had the option of becoming a water boy or cameraman. Well, he certainly wasn’t going to be passing around water to his teammates. So he started filming his high school football team in 2005. Instead of playing, he started looking at football from a cinematic standpoint, and the coaches loved it. It started as a hobby, then developed into a passion.

2013

JL VIDEO IS FOUNDED

After years of crafting videos as a hobby, our founder, Jordan, honed his storytelling, shooting, and editing skills, and decided it was time to start his own video production company. Jordan and his wife Brittany started JL Video on their own. By understanding the organic reach of video on Facebook, they started promoting themselves as more than just freelance videographers. It was an easy transition into helping people’s businesses by doing what they love to do.

The next few years consisted of long nights and 60-hour workweeks with Brittany, pursuing growth for JL Video.

2015

RON PETERS JOINS JL VIDEO AS A PARTNER

With more clients coming on every month, things were getting hectic behind the scenes. Ron Peters was brought on as a partner, allowing our team to help more businesses create captivating videos in addition to having a team-member to bounce creative ideas off of. Ron brought years of photo and video experience to JL Video, as well as expertise in personnel management and finance.

2017

JL VIDEO CONTINUES TO GROW, HIRING ANOTHER AMAZING STAFF

Ron was a great addition, allowing us to cater to our clients and grow our reach. But we still needed a creative hand in video production and post-production. That’s when JL Video brought on Justin DaSilva, who is now our senior editor. Justin has soaked up the tricks of the trade from Jordan, and has become an integral part of our production team.

2018

JL VIDEO IS PUBLISHED BY INC.COM AND FORBES

In 2018, we were able to reach a massive audience at the Tampa Digital Summit. There, Jordan’s presentation about video marketing strategies reached digital creators from YouTube, Evernote, MGM Resorts, and so many others in attendance. This made a huge impact on people with a larger footprint in the industry than us. The presentation also helped us appear in Inc.com and Forbes. Lastly, we won our first Telly Award this year.

2020

THE JL VIDEO TEAM WINS SIX TELLY AWARDS

With the jump from five to nine full-time employees, we were able to churn out more great videos than ever before for our clients. And the proof is in the recognition we received. We won six Telly Awards in 2020 for our video productions: gold in production under $100,000; gold in national travel for branded content; gold in short form/social video; silver in short form/social video; bronze in promotional for branded content; and bronze in short form/social video.
